PRAISE AS RESPONSE, APRIL 30, 2012

The Bible not only presents praise as a sacrifice we offer to God, but also as a response we make to Him. Psalm 100, for instance, encourages worshipers to give exuberant, uninhibited praise to the Lord. We do not need to subdue our response to His presence in our life nor in the worship services we attend. Both areas should find room for enthusiasm in worship and praise.

He lives! In these two words alone there is comfort for the soul. He always lives! This third word makes the comfort even more glorious and more certain. However, the soul's comfort becomes complete when I read the entire sentence: "He always lives to make intercession for them."

"Believe in the good news" Mark 1:15
Jesus began His ministry immediately after His baptism by inviting people to simply "believe the good news." Isn't it exciting to get good news? Think about those moments in life when you got good news.
Think about the good news you may have received this week. Perhaps it was that you were going to have a visitor. Perhaps you heard that a loved one arrived safe at some distant location on the other side of the world.

Every year Jesus' parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of Passover. In accordance with this custom, they attended the feast when He was twelve years old. But when it was over and everyone was on the way home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem without His mother and Joseph knowing it. They assumed He was somewhere among the travelers, and they journeyed on for a day while looking for Him among their relatives and friends. Still not finding Him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for Him.
